Ah, yes the 66th Annual Golden Globes were a definitely uplifting after last year’s disappointing no show, no glamour, no speeches ceremony. They came, we saw, we laughed, and we cried. From Heath Ledger’s justifying win to Kate Winslet’s emotional two-win speeches, this year’s Golden Globes were a success in all aspects. One in particular was the fashion that dominated this year’s GG red carpet. Take a look at our best and worst, and let us know what you think
The Shiny Gold

Gold was a big one on this year’s red carpet gowns. But, only three made our best dressed in gold (sorry, J.Lo). The young and beautiful Freida Pinto sure left her mark on the red carpet with a gorgeous Christian Lacroix Haute Couture gown. Megan Fox looked foxy in a spaghetti strapped Ralph Lauren gown, while Penelope Cruz, in a lighter shade of gold, looked elegant and sophisticated in her Giorgio Armani Prive gown.
Our favorite look would definitely have to be Freida Pinto’s gown. This shade of gold on her really brings out her dark features and beauty.
The Smokey Blues

Drew Barrymore and Blake Lively went with smokey blue gowns. Drew Barrymore’s Dior Haute Couture gown is a dream, while Blake Lively looks her usual sexy and trendy self in a Nina Ricci dress.
Our favorite look is hands down Drew Barrymore’s. The hair and make-up are very Hollywood glamour and the dress, which was custom made by Mr. John Galliano himself, is absolutely flawless. Nice touch with the popping red clutch.
The Grecian Goddess

The Grecian look is very popular at every red carpet show event. This year, Amanda Seyfried, Isla Fisher, and Rachel Griffiths were the few best of this look. Amanda’s color choice could’ve been more flattering if it were a bit darker, and Rachel Griffiths should’ve taken the wrinkle factor into consideration when trying on this dress.
That leaves us with Isla Fisher as our best dressed Grecian Goddess. The color tone was perfect for this red-haired shopaholic.
The Dark Blues

Dark blue was also a big hitter this year. My two favorite were Anne Hathaway’s Giorgio Armani Prive embroidered with Swarovski crystals, and Mary-Louise Parker’s Carlos Miele asymmetrical tier gown.
But, Anne Hathaway’s gotta take this one. The color works well with her fair skin and dark hair. The red lipstick and subtle jewelry make her sophisticated and mature.
The Pale Pinks

Pale color were seen everywhere. The paler the pink, the better. Elizabeth Banks, Vanessa Hudgens, and Demi Moore, all nailed this pretty in pink gown look. The hair, makeup and accessories were all just as gorgeous as their dresses.
But, I simply love the neckline on Elizabeth Banks gown. It’s my favorite pale pink look, and I’ve never seen Elizabeth Banks looking so pure and beautiful.
The Prints

I never really agreed with printed gowns for the red carpet. But, unlike others believe, I think that both these celebs looked great in their printed choices. Jeanna Fischer in Zuhair Murad and Maggie Gyllenhaal in a one-shouldered Lanvin gown caught everyone’s attention.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was my favorite out of the two. The animal print is subtle, and the color couldn’t have brought out her lovely big eyes any better. The up-do and bright red lips worked wonderfully.
The Classics

And of course, there’s always the classic colored gowns. Black, red, and white are a safe choice for many celebs. This year, two time winner Kate Winslet showed up in a very form fitting Yves Saint Laurent belted dress showing off her beautiful new figure. Eva Longoria went for an eye-catching red Reem Acra gown, while Eva Mendes glowed in a white Dior gown.
And the winner is…Kate Winslet. She was stunning. The dress, the hair, the make-up, the accessories – it couldn’t have been done any better.
And the worst…

Oh, boy. Where do I begin? There were plenty, but I narrowed it down to two. Marisa Tomei shocked us all after being one of our top picks for best look at the People’s Choice. Maybe if the shirt was sleevelss it would look better. At least the hair, makeup and accessories were pretty good. Renee Zellweger, on the other hand had it all wrong from head to toe. The hair is awful. The dress is awful! And the accessories are barely there. What were you thinking?
