What To Wear On A Job Interview

Wednesday July 30, 2008 by Konstantina

Sorry, ladies! The summer’s almost over and it’s time to get down from the vacay cloud and get back to reality. A lot of employers have their ‘Now Hiring ‘ signs up. Start sending out your super resume and let us help you out with the “what to wear on my interview?” problem.

You don’t have to layer yourself with too many clothes to look professional and conservative - we’ve got the perfect interview outfit that’s trendy, professional, and lightweight.

August in particular reminds me of the color white. That’s why I chose the Diane von Furstenburg ‘Mess’ Wide Leg Trousers for your what to wear on a job interview pants. They’re light, comfy, and gorgeous. Not to mention you won’t have to worry about the heat torturing you while wearing a white pair of trousers like these.

Ruffles bring out a femininity that’s subtle. Dress shirts are key to an interview outfit, so the Jill Stuart Desdemona Top fits right in with your what to wear on a job interview outfit.

Summer’s favorite fashion piece is the fitted vest. And you can definitely blend it in with your job interview ensemble and break up the monotone of white on white. Wear the Cropped Double Vest-Breasted Vest over your ruffle top and you’ve got the look and vibe of the right candidate for the job.

Drop necklaces look best when they’re just as beautifully subtle as your tops. You don’t want to wear anything too flashy with your job interview outfit. The New York & Company City Style Teardrop Necklace would be ideal.

Shoes can be comfortable and flawless at the same time. The BCBGirls Fairy sandals won’t get your feet tired while waiting for your interviewer who’s running a bit late for your appointment.

The last thing you want to drag along to your interview is your oversize shopper bag. Go with something stylish and sophisticated like the Jessica Simpson Superfine Clutch- it’s large enough to hold your resumes!

  2. Hi Kim-

I don’t recommend wearing a hat during the interview, if its really fabulous you can wear it to the interview but make sure you remove your hat once inside (and make sure your hair is perfectly coiffed!).

But as a rule I would go with simple and modern, you want to reflect your experience and reassure your future employer that you’re up-to-date and ready to tackle the job.
