Beauty Review: Super Mascara

Tuesday July 29, 2008 by Konstantina

Both my sisters were born with the long, natural eyelash gene, and I was the lucky one to get stuck with short, almost non-existent eyelashes. Those of you who share my pain know all the time and money spent to find the perfect mascara and to end up with nothing but eyelashes that look rather short and lumpy than extra long and voluminous.

But don’t give up just yet, my eyelash-troubled friends. There’s still hope with Estee Lauder’s Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara. I’ve been using this remarkable Estee Lauder mascara for a few weeks and I’ve never been more satisfied with the way my eyelashes look. The Estee Lauder Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara combs and separates my eyelashes while giving them a weightless volume that doesn’t tire my eyes. This is truly the best mascara product I’ve tried and while it costs a bit more than I usually spend on mascaras, the Estee Lauder Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara is worth every penny.

Beauty trendWatch: Colors Of The Season

Tuesday July 15, 2008 by Konstantina

When it comes to fashion and trends, everything from hair and makeup to socks and stocking matter. Nail polish, eyeshadows, and lip colors change just as often as clothing color trends. The summer’s not over yet, so take a look at this season’s cosmetics colors.

Nail Polish - Bright
Nail polish is very bright and vibrant this summer. But that doesn’t mean, every bright color will do. Look for bright colors within the orange, pink, and red range. A yellow nail polish or turqoise won’t have the same effect as a bright hot pink color. As for nail polish brands, I’ve found that L’Oreal’s last the longest and have a great glossy shine without spending the money at the nail salon.

Eye Shadows - Pastels
Unlike dark colored eyeshadows, pastels work on everyone and are easier to apply. Pastel colors such as baby blue, peach, and mint green, will give you a feminine and subtle look. Bare Escenutals eye shadows stay put for hours and have a huge assortment of pastel colors.

Lip Gloss and Lip Stick – Nude
Don’t wear anything on your lips that’s darker than a light pink color. Summer’s are light, bright, and fun, so even the sheerest lip color will do. Keep it as nude as possible, and you’ll look natural and chic, which is our favorite look.

Philosophy Shear Splendor

Sunday June 29, 2008 by EditorJacquie

You probably know (and love) Philosophy’s yummy bubble bath and delicious 3-in-1 shower gels in flavors like Margarita and Cinnamon Buns.

And then there’s the Philosophy classics like the Grace line of products and the little miracle in a tub “When Hope is Not Enough” replenishing cream.

But did you know that Philosophy can also take care of your tresses? Dry, damaged hair? Too many trips to the salon for highlights? Oh and what about the summer fun of swimming in the pool and hanging out in the sun? Its all working against your dream of luxurious locks.

Philosophy Shear Splendor Hair Mask

Try Philosophy Shear Splendor Anti-Aging Hair Mask ($22). Yes, your hair ages right along with you. The Shear Splendor hair mask has peptides and a botanical butter base but what really matters is that your thirsty hair will thank you when you lather this on.

If your hair is in a state of 9-1-1, bypass the bandaids and go right for the full treatment: Philosophy Crisis Intervention 3-piece hair collection ($48).

Beauty Review: Great Skincare For All Types Of Skin

Friday May 9, 2008 by Konstantina

Cosmedicine Starter Set: Basic Skin Health

I’ve always been dissatisfied with my skin. For years, I’ve been dealing with redness, dryness, and all sorts of breakouts. I was standing at the cashier’s line at a Sephora one day, when the sales rep gave me a sample of Cosmedicine Primary Care Multi Tasking Moisturizer. I tried it at home and I had to have it. I loved the way it absorbed in to my face and dried out within seconds leaving my skin super soft. The next day I went and picked up the Cosmedicine Starter Set: Basic Skin Health, and I saw a difference in my skin within days. The starter set includes the following: Healthy Cleanse Foaming Cleanser & Toner In One, MegaDose Skin Fortifying Serum, Primary Care Multi-Tasking Moisturizer SPF 20, Opti-mologist Eye Cream with Light Diffusers, Medi-morphosis Self Adjusting Exfoliator. The Cosmedicine Starter Set: Basic Skin Health is great if you want to test out the product before you invest in it. Available for Normal or Dry Skin and Oily Skin.

Cosmedicine Starter Set: Basic Skin Health, $48 at Sephora.com
