Celebrity Inspired Jewelry

When the hottest television and film stars walk down the red carpet, their talent is not what shines brightest. Celebrity jewelry sparkles as bright as their artificially whitened teeth. The bling from celebrity jewelry is caught on camera and showcased in those weekly mags we pretend not to love. Costing millions, celebrity jewelry is often on-loan to the stars.

Cheap celebrity jewelry and replica celebrity jewelry allows those of us not on the designer’s loaner list to dazzle like a star. Replica jewelry costs a fraction of the real celebrity jewelry. Unless you are a trained diamond diva, you’ll never know the difference between the celebrity jewelry on the red carpet and replica jewelry.

Emitations.com specializes in celebrity “inspired” jewelry (we’d never call it knock-off) and they offer affordable baubles that follow the latest jewelry trends.

Designer Jewelry: Inspired by the Real Thing

When a 10 carat diamond is not in the budget, there is a lot of designer jewelry that an everyday gal can duplicate. Inspired by the real thing, these pieces are designed after the best known jewelers like Tiffany’s, Fred Leighton, Bulgari, Harry Winston, and David Yurman. Sure some would roll their eyes at the precious dilution of these famous designs…we’re just glad we can score them on the cheap without schlepping to Chinatown.

Cheap and Chic Celebrity Jewelry Trends

The easiest way to pick up on celebrity jewelry trends is to pick up a gossip mag, see what jewelry celebrities are wearing when they hit the town. Then you can hit the web to find the bargains. Cheap and chic jewelry is the way to go when you need to buy a bangle in every color of the rainbow. Follow trends and buy tons of cheap jewelry with no guilt. Don’t be fooled, not all celebrity jewelry costs a fortune. Even the stars can be caught searching through the bargain bin for cheap jewelry.

Lucite and Resin Bangle Bracelets

Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore are piling resin bangle bracelets on their arms. You can follow this celebrity jewelry trend with the purchase of cheap jewelry that still looks chic.

Chunky Beads in Bold Colors

Bigger is better in Hollywood, as long as your dress size is still small anyway. We’ve seen Cameron Diaz in chunky beads that would make Wilma Flintstone proud. Chunky beads in bold colors lend edge to your basic black dress and give tees and jeans a hip update.

If a jewelry designer wants her designs to be seen throughout the world, she is smart to offer pieces to well-known—and frequently photographed—celebrities. After all, this is how trends are started these days. Consumers see the jewelry pieces that celebrities are wearing and then decide that they must have the same jewelry for themselves. This works out well for the jewelry designer, at least initially anyway.
But soon, the designer jewelry—the expensive pieces that are more exclusive—isn’t the only jewelry on the scene. Discount retailers begin to make similar jewelry pieces, and their pieces are much more affordable.
Sometimes these discount retailers go about this process in such a way as to involve the jewelry designer. They ask the designer to develop some less expensive pieces specifically for their store, keep the designer’s name attached to them, and it is a win-win situation. The designer still gets publicity and the store gets customers coming in to purchase the designer jewelry. And, of course, both the designer and the store get profits.
But sometimes, the discount retailers do not involve the jewelry designer in the process of making the less expensive pieces of jewelry. Instead, the retailers have costume jewelry pieces—or fashion jewelry, as it is also called—made for their store by an outside manufacturer. This is wholesale jewelry, manufactured in large amounts in factories, for the most part, so that all of the stores in the discount retailer’s chain can offer the same costume jewelry pieces for sale.
Making costume jewelry in this manner does not include the jewelry designer in any way, even though the jewelry pieces may look quite similar to the original pieces that the designer created for the celebrities.
Usually, this isn’t a big issue. Most jewelry designers generally think of their pieces as one-of-a-kind, anyway. So, the masses of wholesale jewelry, while visually similar, are not really that alike to the designer originals.
And, the mass-marketed fashion jewelry is usually crafted of cheaper materials than that of the designer original. Jewelry designers use real gold, silver, gems, and semi-precious stones when creating their pieces—not plastic, wire, and gold-coated anything. So, even if the costume jewelry looks very much the same as the designer original, the value is very different. Designer originals will keep their value and are often worth a great deal of money, whereas fashion jewelry pieces are not.
Most jewelry designers have already begun moving on to creating their next pieces of fine jewelry by the time the fashion jewelry shows up in the retail chain stores, anyway. So, when consumers are just beginning to wear the necklaces, bracelets, or earrings that some famous celebrities were photographed wearing a month or two ago, the jewelry designers are likely nearly ready to send the celebrities a newly designed piece of fine jewelry to wear for the cameras.
And then the entire cycle starts again. But really, in the jewelry business, this type of situation generally benefits everyone—except maybe the consumers who keep spending hard-earned money on new styles of fashion jewelry.

  3. High gold prices have fortunately encouraged designers to create fancy jewelry with materials other than gold and silver. These jewels appeal to the young and trendy, look good and do not cost the world. The above blog shows excellent examples of such a trend.

What an under-handed “spam” remark. Spam like this is so annoying.

Great marketing tactic ya got there, PremiumPearl.com.

    NOT!
